Talk: “RAF Felixstowe – The People not the Planes”.
The next Martlesham Heath Aviation Society monthly talk will take place on Friday 5th September, at 7:30pm. Catherine Buchanan will talk all about “RAF Felixstowe – The People not the Planes”.
As many readers will know where the Felixstowe Docks are now very busy, the area used to be the home of the “Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment” flying and testing Float Planes, and Flying Boats from 1913 to 1963. They also worked with the Navy over in Harwich, creating what became the Royal Navy Air Station (RNAS) Harwich. Both sites therefore played a pivotal role in Britain’s early naval aviation history during the 1st World War. Much is known about the ‘planes. Now Catherine will bring some of the personalities out of the shadows, and tell some of their stories.

Venue: The Martlesham Heath Community Centre, Felixstowe Road, Martlesham Heath IP12 4PB.
