Two Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft at Middy in the 1940s
This year’s Middy in the 1940s is pleased to announce there will be a flypast by not one but two of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s famous aircraft. They will be a Hawker Hurricane and a Spitfire on Monday 26th May (weather permitting). The sight and sound of these classic machines is not to be missed.
The celebration will include a wide range of re-enactors, displays of memorabilia and a long list of military and vintage vehicles. There will also be 1940s style live music on both days from Sarah Mai and the Gislingham Variety Club. Plus, of course, there will be steam train rides in veteran Great Eastern Railway, 4-wheel coaches.
Also the USAAF 34th Bomb Group will have two display areas this year illustrating the ‘Friendly Invasion’ and its effect on sleepy Suffolk railway.
Middy in the 1940s brings history alive and makes a great day out for families and enthusiasts alike – an exhibition of how it was in those extraordinary end of war days.
This is an entertaining and enjoyable event and you can stay as long as you like and ride the trains as many times as you like.
