Middy in the 1940s Sunday 24th & Monday 25th May.
Middy in the 1940s brings history alive and makes a great day out for families and enthusiasts alike – an exhibition of how it was in those extraordinary end of war days. Including, of course, steam train rides in veteran Great Eastern Railway coaches. Our resident steam locomotive will be in steam – Peckett & Sons 0-4-0 ST ‘May’ built in 1915.
The celebration will include a wide range of re-enactors including displays of memorabilia and a long list of military and vintage vehicles plus on Sunday 24th May (weather permitting), there will be a flypast by one of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s famous aircraft. There will also be 1940s style live music on both days from Sarah Mai.
This is an entertaining and enjoyable event and you can stay as long as you like and ride the trains as many times as you like.
Steam hauled trains of our genuine Great Eastern Railway carriages will be running from 11.00 on our extended line to the new destination station, Aspall Halt.
