Tracey Gallagher released ‘Caves’ on May 26th.

Mayo born singer/songwriter Tracy Gallagher released a stunning new single and video ‘Caves’ on May 26th. A collaboration with Belfast based producer Michael Mormecha, Caves is a blend of Tracy’s rich, haunting vocals and sharp and insightful song-writing style with the production mastery of Mormecha.

About the song Tracey says “Caves is inspired by the work of Joseph Campbell, American professor of Literature and well known mythologist, credited by George Lucas as having inspired Star Wars. While reading his book ‘The Hero With A Thousand Faces’, I became enamoured with the idea of each individual being the hero in their own story and the trials and tribulations each of us have to face and overcome throughout our human experience in order to grow and develop as human beings.

Caves explores the relationship we have to the natural world and simultaneously to the inner self, it is a look at the wild, powerful and sometimes frightening aspects of nature that can act as a metaphor for the unexplored parts of our inner worlds. The wildness of the ‘seven seas’ and the dark unknown of the ‘cave’ represent our innermost fears, that which we try to keep hidden from ourselves and the world at large but this is also the place where the deepest treasures and revelations lie, where personal growth and development happens.”

Widespread Haze are releasing their new album, ‘Move’ on June 4th. ‘New Shoes’ is the second track on that album.

Widespread Haze is time-travelling, hip-shaking, psychedelic rock-n-roll trio, specializing in organic ear-worms and lyrical hash. Their original self-produced music crosses genres with whimsical cynicism that resonates across generations.

Two years ago, everything changed. Studios shut down, gigs dried up, and Widespread Haze resolved to record their début full length album themselves. They set up camp in the top floor ballroom of the local Oddfellows building (now Wayback Records) and began chopping away at the biggest project of their lives. Their aim was simple, track live, keep it raw, and highlight the magic in between. The songs budded, the recordings grew, and two years later ‘Move’ blossomed.

Ruins are releasing their new album, ‘Pure at Heart’ on 17th June. ‘Kintsugi’ is the first track on that album.

Ruins are Lloyd Rock, on vocals & drums, and Nik Kavanagh on bass & synth. Their second album, ‘Pure at Heart’ will be released 17th June 2022. It is a continuation of their atmospheric sound from début record ‘Sample Size’.

‘Pure at Heart’ sees Ruins deliver their signature blend of moody, soulful, melodic basslines, shimmering synth and broken beats. The new album includes ‘Wearing White’. It is a delightful ‘semiotic exploration’ featuring soaring vocals and a sweet-yet-dirty-pop sound to keep fans dancing. Written pre-pandemic and mixed during lockdown, the track guides us by ‘loving hand’ on an exploration through the symbolism of the colour white, from notions of angelic purity to scientific endeavour.

Other tracks on ‘Pure at Heart’ include ‘Kintsugi’. This is a mix of fragmented drum beats and hook-laden bass riffs, telling tales of self-forgiveness and healing. There’s also ‘Youswimaghost’  which gives us a fluid bass groove and elegiac harmonies underpinned by primal beats, taking the listener on an ethereal journey. Each track includes Lloyd’s raw and enchanting falsetto vocal with its angelic untampered tone.

Lloyd says: “At this moment in time there is no-one who sounds like us, we’re forerunners of something unique and new – we deliver the unexpected.

Nik adds, “Melody is fundamental to the overall sound of Pure at Heart and sonically it’s a really textured record.
