The Tope team are a charity who support 13-18 year-olds in Ipswich who are currently in an abusive situation or are struggling with the memories of one. They can be reached via Instagram or by calling 0800 168 1154. They have a website at tope.org.uk/ with links to all their socials.
Tope says, “Experiencing any form of abuse can make you feel alone and afraid. We understand that if you are experiencing abuse it can be very difficult to reach out for support. Abuse can make you feel out of control and powerless, and you may find yourself doing things you haven’t done before – this is a normal response to something that is not normal that is being done to you.
You don’t need to have reported the abuse to access this service, but we will work closely with you to ensure you and others are kept safe. We want to build a relationship with you and assure you that we will never take any action without telling you what we’re going to do. You can also access the support completely anonymously if that feels safer for you.
It is likely that you will be feeling completely overwhelmed right now so we don’t want to overload you with information. The best thing to do is to get in touch with us in whatever way feels comfortable and we can either support you or help access other services with you, if that’s what feels right for you now.
Nothing makes it OK to abuse you, in any way.
Tope have been operating in the local area for over 10 years with thier sister organisation, Survivors In Transition. Survivors in Transition support adults in abusive situations, and can be reached at https://survivorsintransition.co.uk.
