James Mayhew to open new Easterly Artists’ pop-up art gallery in Lowestoft.

New exhibition ‘Connections’ runs 6 – 15 September.

Calling all visual art fans – don’t miss Easterly Artists’ latest pop-up gallery and exhibition!

For the fifth successive year, the local artists collective will be taking over an empty retail property in the Triangle section at the top of Lowestoft’s historic High Street and transforming it into an exciting contemporary art gallery on the theme of ‘Connections’.

Easterly Artists Chair Miles Barry commented, “It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since we first had the idea of staging a pop-up gallery and exhibition for the town. But – judging by the comments in our Visitor’s Book – we must be doing something right, as people keep asking us to come back!“This year it’s a huge pleasure to welcome acclaimed author, illustrator and storyteller James Mayhew, who has kindly agreed to open the exhibition at the Preview, 7pm on Friday 6 September. James is an old friend of Lowestoft, having spent his formative years here, first at Denes High School and then at Lowestoft School of Art.”

James Mayhew commented, “I’m delighted to be taking part in this year’s exhibition. It’s really exciting to see all the incredible and inspiring art on show – what a great thing for the town, celebrating its artistic heritage in this way!

20+ members will be taking part in the exhibition with work stretching across a wide range of mediums – painting, drawing, printing, pottery and ceramics to name just a few – and all from some of the most creative artists in East Suffolk. So there’s bound to be something to stimulate even the most jaded artistic palate!
